Geoff practices intellectual property litigation, with a focus on representing high tech, video game and consumer goods companies in patent infringement disputes. He has represented clients in all phases of litigation, from discovery, claim construction, and summary judgment through trial and appeal.

Geoff has litigated in venues throughout the country, including federal district courts in Texas, Delaware, and California, as well as the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), the International Trade Commission and the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He has achieved favorable results for his clients, including obtaining decisions invalidating patent claims under 35 U.S.C. § 101 from the Eastern District of Texas, Western District of Texas, PTAB, and Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

  • Represented Amazon in the Western District of Texas against patent infringement claims relating to video on-demand and electric programming guides. Obtained summary judgment determination of invalidity for failure to claim patent-eligible subject matter.
  • Achieved favorable results for defendant in series of patent litigations relating to mobile video games. Invalidated multiple patents in post-grant review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), brought a successful motion for summary judgment for failure to claim patent-eligible subject matter in the Eastern District of Texas, and secured reversal of a PTAB decision upholding the eligibility of claims that had been asserted at trial. Case settled on confidential terms.
  • Defended a startup client in a patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation case brought by its competitor.
  • Obtained favorable claim construction ruling on behalf of defendant in case involving mobile ad hoc networks in the Eastern District of Texas. Case settled on confidential terms.
